Swallowtail Butterfly

This is a beautiful Swallowtail butterfly, photographed in the back yard. My wife grows planters of parsley and keeps them near the butterfly bush to entice the females to lay eggs. Once the eggs hatch, we capture the baby caterpillars and nurture them to maturity. The mature butterfly are released to continue the cycle. I hope to photograph the sequence some day. Unfortunately, no caterpillars this year. We're still hopeful.

Sailboat

I though this was a tranquil shot of a sailboat on the ocean with the beach umbrellas and dune grasses in the foreground.

I shot this while sitting on the beach one day. I thought the sheen from the underside and the contrast of colors against the sky would look cool.

Cold Drink

This was shot next to the Royal Treat in Rehoboth Beach, DE, while on our annual vacation. I thought it was odd that someone would think that a cold drink could be gotten from the Fire Department connection :-o

Hitchhiker

I arrived at work the other day to discover I had a hitchhiker on my bike. I let it be and when I returned to my bike at lunch, it had died :-(

I saw this interesting intersection of some jet trail on my way to work one morning this past week. The little guy in the lower left corner snuck in between the time I first saw it and was able to get to a spot where I could take a photograph.

My son's cloud book identifies these as Contrails.
