This was the first thing I photographed when I got the 50mm f1.4 lens. It's the globe that was in the reflection of the counter top for Weekend Reflection #22.
I took the same shot 15 times with each aperture from f1.4 to f7.1. Don't ask me why, I just did. They all look good, some are better than others, but I wish I had done the experiment more scientifically. I should have used a tripod and remote shutter release to put them all on equal footing.
Lots of detail in the reflection. You can see me in the foreground, the patio door that leads to the back yard on the right. The dark rectangle to my left is a doorway to our Family Room, with sconces on each side of the door. A clock above the doorway. The light fixture above my head and to the right is behind me, over the kitchen table. Enough already!

It almost looks like it is reflecting a city scape!
A nice way to do a self-portrait :-)
Nice one!
very interesting reflection shot, nice colours and depth
I know how it is. You attach it to the camera and then you want to become an expert with it immediately. I have some weird experimental shots I saved when I got a new lens.
I can see you indeed, a cool lamp too.
This is a very cool reflection. I like the way the the streaks on the lamp seem to be spinning around at an angle.
What fun to have a new lens! And it's fun to see your reflection. :)
I have done that too, one object taken so many times until perfection! I see you! Cool!
I agree with Rebecca! It's a great shot, very nice for a first time use!
I really like this one Wayne.
So many details in this reflection, but I have to say that it's the lamp itself that I find very striking. Lovely choice for your home. :)
An f1.4 ... ooo ... I AM envious. The colour of the globe is gorgeous for starters, Wayne. And picking out the elements as I read through your text was great fun. Good post.
What an elegant choice for Weekend Reflections.
There's something here which fills my eyes--which is the greatest compliment I can give.
I love these kind of lamps. I wish I had a breakfast bar to hang them over. Everytime we go to Home Depot I see them and want them... LOVE the new blog design too.
How creative. Nice.
This is a really neat, creative shot! Love how much detail there is in the reflection, and the pattern of the globe makes it very unique! Nice job. Kathy
I like it!
You were inquiring as to the different colors (green & orange). The orange bulb had already warmed up, and the green bulb was in the process of warming up. Once the bulb warmed up completely, they were both the same colour.
