Swirling clouds

I shot this last summer as a nasty storm was passing through.  I looked up and saw this interesting, twisting cloud.  Fortunately, it did not turn into anything worse.

I decided to have some fun with the flash and manual focus while it was pouring rain.  I set the focal length to 28mm.  I first focused at infinity and took a shot.  Not what I wanted.  I then focused close up and took a shot, that didn't do it either.  I started focusing towards infinity taking shots ever so often.  I got several interesting ones, but I liked this one the best.

Nice photos! I especially like the wide range of blues in the clouds.

wow... I learned something from you again... very good experimentation. I hope we don't see many clouds like that this year but this IS Oklahoma....

Help me out here. I read a lot of references to focusing on infinity. What, exactly does that mean? Thanks! Love the sky photo.

that storm is awesome! Since living in Northern CA, I haven't seen any good storm clouds. But growing up in Tn and spending lots of time in TX, i miss those crazy clouds. Sweet shot! That second one is pretty cool, too!
