Now, let's slow the shutter down. I don't know how to explain what I see, but I think this shot gives the feeling of movement. The flames appear to be 'rushing' you can almost hear the fire roar. In the prior shot, the flames seem 'quiet'. Note that these shots were taken ~20 seconds apart.

About a year ago, I posted these that were shot with a 50-250mm zoom. I prefer the 50mm shots.

Your son had a good idea and you did it marvellously. And it brings a little warmth, it's so cold here.
Great idea. They look really cool. I like the slower shutter speed shots best in both posts.
Stunning - simply stunning.
Gorgeous! I haven't had the opportunity to photograph a fire lately. Thanks for sharing! Kudos to your son for the idea (and to you for taking such great photos)!
I didnt take any photos of it, but we had a similar fire and made s'mores instead.
Forgot to say I like that fast shutter speed. I love the curves in the flame that it captures.
Nice experiments! I like the first one more, there's many interesting patterns in it.
Interesting image.

Wonderful shots, you are very talented!

Yeah the second shot is more like my eyes see fire but the first is purely fascinating.
I like the color and sharpness of the fire at a faster shutter speed. Very cool stuff.
Great colors and effect.
Congratulations.
