Gerber Daisy and ?

I'm not wildly knowledgable about flowers, but the Gerber Daisy (Gerbera jamesonii) happens to be one of my favorites.

I'm not quite sue of the name of this flower. I've tried to look it up, but no luck. I'll update this if I figure it out.

Lightning

We had a spectacular storm pass north of us Friday evening, so I had the opportunity to take my time photographing lightning without worying about getting wet (or zapped). I used manual mode and set the shutter to Bulb (camera on a tripod). I fixed the film speed at 100, the aperature at f5, and manually focused on infinity. I blocked the eyepiece and used a remote control for the camera. Basically, you open the shutter, wait for an event, then close the shutter. That said, I only got one really decent shot (it took me a while to get this all sorted out). The vertical light in the lower left corner is from some landscaping lighting.

Be sure to click on the image to view a larger version. It will show much more detail.

I was tempted to tweak the exposure in Lightroom, but I decided to leave it alone.

Waterfall

I found this neat little waterfall in Springfield Township, Bucks County.
GPS Coordinates N40 34.314 W75 15.281. Here's a google map for the location.

I was riding around and saw the sign for "Funks Mill Rd" and thought "what a cool name!" and "I wonder if there is a Funks Mill that might make for some cool photos?", so naturally, I took the road. Funks Mill Rd is gravel at this point and the waterfall is near Haupts Bridge Road at a sharp bend in the road. This makes for hazardous shooting conditions when a car passes. Fortunately, when I ride, I wear a highly reflective vest.

I didn't find the mill, however, based on the info at the site below, and my GPS tracks, I was very close. The mill might make for some interesting shots. Here's a link to a photo of the mill.

This shot looks like something from an inspirational poster or a greeting card.

Nockamixon Dam

Here's the dam/spillway for Lake Nockamixon. It makes for a pretty neat experience. We've had a lot of rain lately, so there's a lot of water falling. I imagine it would be pretty spectacular after a heavy rain. For techies out there, here are the GPS coordinates:
N40 27.979 W75 11.170
and a link to google maps.

Zephyr

This is Zephyr, the newest addition to the family. We got her a few weeks prior to Emily's death. She's a miniature schnauzer, like Emily. Unlike Emily, she is quite feisty. I caught her in a resting moment (few and far between). She is quite the sweetheart.

Spider Web

It was very foggy this morning and dew formed on everything. I found this one in the grass (duh) and I though this was pretty cool.

This one was taken in the pickets of our pool fence. I left out the pickets and it appears that the droplets are suspended in space. If you look closely, you can see the web.

Sun and Tree

I was in a "looking around" mode and caught the sun shining through a 'crotch' in the branches. I moved to and fro until I got the sun just where I wanted it. I though it presented an interesting effect.

No Trespassing

A once glorious house left to ruins. There are some interesting closer shots I'll work on for the future.

Congratulations!

I drive past this house frequently and I thought this announcement was priceless. The sign is placed over a building (garage?) next to the street. I actually shot this while moving slowly in traffic.

Milestone

I hit a milestone on my bike Friday, May 1st. 497 days after I bought my bike, I crossed the 20K milestone :-)

While not a staggering annual rate, it was worthy of stopping on the side of the road on my way home from work. It was drizzling in the morning on the way in. It poured most of the day. It stopped raining just before I left work. I was determined to get here, rain or not.

Dogwood blossom

Common White Dogwood. This one was found in an undeveloped area, so it may be wild.
