And now for something completely different ...

I shot this at the Neshaminy Cemetery.  I've driven by it many times and finally decided to visit.  It is an active cemetery yet it contains graves from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.  Some headstones are so old, it's difficult or impossible to read the inscriptions.  The link above takes you to a website that has some other shots of the cemetery.

The quaint chapel can be seen from the road and catches your eye.  The deepness of the blue in the sky can be attributed to the Circular Polarizer.

It has an interesting bell that is currently not functioning.  In the US, we are amazed at buildings that are one or two hundred years old, yet in Europe and Asia, buildings many times this age are not uncommon.

OK, this is a creepy one.  I took a shot of the back of the headstones and originally converted it to B&W in Lightroom.  It looked OK, but it lacked something.  I made a virtual copy of the original and applied a WOW Preset (B&W #2).  These are a free download and some of them are quite interesting.  I think this one is positively evil.

I love that belfry shot Wayne. The cemetery seems to be eerie but it is where we can commune with the dead.

Hi Wayne your pictures are excellent. Thanks for showing me a new place to checkout. Neshaminy Cemetery is only about 20 minutes from me. I really like the way your circular polarizer worked. I've only used mine once and the results were not very good do to vignetting. This post also reminds me that I've been meaning to look into Photoshop Lightroom. How do you like it?

Nice photos. Is the chapel still used? I would be interested in seeing the interior of it.

Hi Pacey, thanks for visiting! It felt strange amongst all of those really old graves.

James,

You can email me (wayne@2zars.com) with questions anytime.

Vignette could be caused by several factors. Some CP's are prone to vignette. Wide angle lenses have problems with many CP's. What is the model of the CP and what lens did you use it on? I researched many CP's before I bought mine and it was not an inexpensive item!

Lightroom is phenomenal! It's good for making adjustments, but it really good at managing your photo collection. Scott Kelby wrote a book on Lightroom and I highly recommend it! My rule of thumb is no more than 30 seconds making adjustments to a photo. If it takes longer, there's something wrong with my photographic technique.

If you're looking for a manipulation tool, gimp gets good reviews and it's free. http://www.gimp.org/

Marka,
I'm not sure if it's open. Silly me didn't think to check! I'll try to return and check it out, unless James beats me to it!

I really like the cemetery photo and have considered doing much the same.... maybe I'll give it a try soon... haunting stuff. Oh, the other photos I like too but the cemetery fired my imagination.

Earnest, I'm happy I have inspired your imagination. That's the greatest complement one can receive!

Thanks Rebecca, I really like that shot as well. It might look really cool printed on metallic paper.
